How to Customize the Footer after Importing Elementor Starter Templates

If you’ve recently imported a template using the Starter Templates plugin with Elementor as your page builder, this guide will help you customize the footer design included in that template.

In Elementor Starter Templates, the footer can be customised in two ways:

  • Using the Customizer settings
  • Using the Ultimate Addons for Elementor

This guide will walk you through the steps to customise or remove the footer that comes with an imported Elementor template.

Method 1: Customise the Footer with Astra Theme Customizer:

The first step in customizing the footer after importing a template is to check it in the WordPress Customizer. To do this, go to your WordPress Dashboard and navigate to Appearance → Customize → Footer.

There, review the elements added to the footer. When you hover over the footer area, you’ll see a pencil icon that lets you edit the section.

This way, you can modify the widgets or any other elements added to the footer. For more details on customizing the footer using the pencil icon, refer to this guide: https://wpastra.com/docs/create-footer-with-footer-builder/

Important

If you don’t see the edit icon when hovering, or if changes made in the footer builder don’t take effect, it means the footer wasn’t added through the theme customizer. In that case, move on to the next step.

Method 2: Customize the Footer Using Ultimate Addons for Elementor

In some templates, the footer is controlled through the “Ultimate Addons for Elementor“. When this is the case, the theme footer settings may not work fully or at all, since the “Ultimate Addons for Elementor” overrides them.

To modify this footer template, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to WordPress Dashboard → UAE → Header & Footer.

  2. In the Header & Footer section, locate the Footer template. From here, you can either edit it with Elementor to make changes or remove it entirely if you don’t want to use it.

  3. If the footer is created with the “Ultimate Addons for Elementor’s Header & Footer“. In that case, you can also identify it from the admin bar and edit it directly from the front-end while logged in as an administrator.

Use the Astra Theme’s Footer Instead of the Elementor Footer

If you want to use the Astra theme’s footer rather than the Elementor footer, you’ll need to delete the footer template created with the UAE → Header & Footer.

By default, any footer template created with “Ultimate Addons for Elementor” or “Elementor Pro” will override the Astra theme’s footer. To switch back to the Astra’s footer, simply remove the footer template from “Ultimate Addons for Elementor” or “Elementor Pro“.

That’s all it takes to adjust the footer after importing a template. This guide is especially helpful if you’ve imported an Elementor-based Starter Template.

I hope this walkthrough has been useful. Try the steps above to customize your footer, and let us know if you have any feedback.
